This old gal turns 10 today.

It’s hard to write about my experience with Battlefield 1942 without sounding like an old war veteran. Partially, because of how much “war” has changed since then.
“Back then we couldn’t look forward to kill-streak rewards, or progressive unlocks. You had what you had, and it was up to you to use it properly.”
There was no squad-system..you had to open up the console to find the IP address to tell your friends which game to join…your feats of grandeur only lived so long as you kept speaking of them, as there was no FRAPS or YouTube to show off with.
“War is hell, but it’s nothing like it used to be.”
But, because organization was so rare, when something cool did happen, well it made your entire month.
See a guy shoot a plane down with a rocket launcher? Best god damn night of your year.
Well, it was when you were 13.

Here’s to ten more years.
